This is the FULL award winning game, now on Android. Plus, it takes the addictive challenges of other construction-based puzzlers and adds its own unique, gooey twist. The graphics and sound are awesome and the gameplay is intuitive. Overall, we think World of Goo is an absolute winner. And if you've played other construction-based puzzlers, like Apparatus or X Construction, then you should be in great shape. Regardless, we were able to pick it up and figure it out without much effort at all. Within each level, there are signs posted with quick tips as well, but those are vague and unhelpful at best.
While World of Goo's plot is convoluted and unquestionably bizarre, its gameplay is another story. Also, you only have a finite number of them to work with. As you might have guessed, it's quite challenging to create something structurally sound from the elastic gooballs. In order to do this, you must use your gooballs to create bridges, towers, and other structures from a predetermined starting point. The idea of the game is to get the gooballs to the intake pipe, which is usually in the sky, beyond some sort of chasm, or otherwise out of reach. Think Apparatus or X Construction, but covered in slime. Once you have the whistle you can use it on any level, including earlier levels if you choose to go back to them to attempt OCD.World of Goo is a visually stunning physics-based puzzler that lets you create structures out of tiny, elastic gooballs. The whistle is useful to get balls where you want them quickly for example to stabilise a structure by changing the weight distribution, or to get balls to the exit quickly. They'll move faster and tend to head towards the sound. Hold down the mouse button to whistle and nearby Goo Balls will be attracted to it. Once you've completed Leap Hole in Chapter 2, you gain the use of a whistle. Once you have completed the minimum level requirements, all time bugs will vanish, which can be annoying if you're trying for OCD. Be careful how you use them though, for you won't always get a new time bug when you make a move. They are little white flying bugs that you can can click on to "undo" one move. You first encounter time bugs in Impale Sticky. When you meet the OCD requirements of a level, a little flag will appear on the map screen besides that level. They involve rescuing additional balls, or completing in a limited number of moves or amount of time. Press ESCAPE to see the game menu, and click "ocd" to see what the additional requirements are to obtain OCD. Obsessive Completion Distinctionįor those in need of further challenge, every level has an "OCD" mode. Almost every level has signposts (which are animated so you can see them easily). In such levels you are given clues as to where you have to build or what you have to do. If you can't see the pipe, a small arrow will on the screen will be pointing toward it. You must build towards the level's pipe so that it can suck the remaning balls. Most levels require you to rescue Goo Balls to complete them.
There are dozens of types of ball in the game, but you are introduced to each gently. Still more balls can be shot in a direction but not dragged. Others cannot be attached but can build towers. Special types of Goo Ball exist that only have one arm ( water for example), or that are lighter than air (like balloons). You normally need to build in generally triangular structures as most Goo Balls require at last two arms to grab on to other balls. In most levels, you can simply drag and drop the balls to link them into a structure. In World of Goo, you control Goo Balls which you can link together in various ways to form structures.
